For about four years we had a youth group, where we met with four youngsters from our family and that of a friend. We called it a Mithila group and spoke about fundamentals of spirituality in a way adapted to the youngsters (see: Fundamentals of a Spiritual Education, PDF). Last Sunday we closed the group, for the interests of the youngsters had grown out of it.

Though signs had been there already since a longer time and my wife had seen them more clearly, I was a bit surprised and first felt sad about the development. We had a long talk and I came to understand the situation in a broader perspective. To sum it up: That which is resonating within them will find fruition, but it is up to the children to pick up what they want, for their way into life. Their blossoming does not develop in the way we suspect it. What has been important for me is not necessarily what they might consider important. They have to shape out their own way, and in freedom.

Yesterday I published the newsletter of the Circle of Good Will for the month of Scorpio, where the topic of the Lunar Messenger is Kundalini. I got several positive feedback mails from readers, among these a mai from a lady proposing a link exchange to her website, telling that since 9 years she has the kundalini fire awakened and thus extaordinary sidhis(supernatural powers) and healing abilities.

When hearing such claims, I always think, whow, and am happy that I’m standing with my two feet on the ground. In the 70ies I had been in a then famous meditation movement purporting awakening of sidhi powers such as flying, walking through walls, clear-audience … I left the movement in the early 80ies, after having realised that this has nothing to do with serious spirituality and leading you into inflating your ego. I experienced this ego-inflation as a danger holding you in illusions and keeping you away from the really important steps of spiritual development.

The lady wanted to publish stories about her experiences on the good-will website, which I politely declined. A link however has been posted in the German section of link exchanges, since she wanted to post one to us on her page…

A week of traveling and at the end a seminar of silence with my spiritual teacher K. P. Kumar at the Yoga Vidya centre in Bad Meinberg, Germany, kept me away from blogging. The seminar with about 130 participants over the last weekend was a short but intense experience of looking inside and getting into contact with more subtle planes of one’s self. Observing the rhythm of breath over a longer period of time helps you switching away from the continuous flow of impressions and thoughts and opens up doors to the inner worlds.

After some months I yesterday looked again into the admin of the E-Card-system on the good-will website and found over 12000 mails sent over the last 3 months – mainly spam mails praising sex, drugs and replica watches. Dirty mails with dirtiest links. I quickly tried to block the system, for every day they were dispatching via my system their stinking messages, but this wasn’t enough. Since 4 years I hadn’t installed an update of the system, and this was urgent now.

Peter Sundstrom, the kind owner of Ginini technologies (Ginini is an aboriginal word meaning sleeping woman, the name of a mountain range “down under” in Australia) and programmer of Postcard Direct (a good multi-language e-card system, which I have installed) quickly gave me a reply what to do.

Nevertheless it took me some hours until everything was in the right forms again, for there had been several changes in the system. Now the e-cards are running again (and I have re-installed the dropdown with a music-selection) – and most important, a look into the logfiles on the server this morning showed that the dirty messages were no longer being sent from my server.

It reminds me of the wakefulness needed on the spiritual path. When you try to progress without having “fixed” your system of living and of motives, egoistic tendencies start flourishing in you and gushing their stinking waters into you and your surroundings.

Last Sunday early morning at a Cafeteria in Zurich Airport: We were sitting in a small round together with Dr. Kumar, my spiritual teacher, who just had arrived from Hyderabad – Mumbay. We were discussing some final organisational and juridical questions in preparation of next day’s general assembly of our organisation helt in Germany. Over the years I had had several occasions observing him how he is dealing organisational matters in a very practical manner, with a great clarity of purpose. He is administering a great number of social projects in India and giving spiritual guidance to people all over the globe. In this meeting again I observed several remarks said seeming casually which gave me a better understanding of the matter. He summarised his attitude saying: “I keep focussing on Spiritual Hierarchy, and from out of this focus I work with the groups and the people. The work for the groups is always not just from the groups, but from Spiritual Hierarchy, and this gives the approach.”
Next day at the assembly I could observe again his practicality in the moderation of the proceedings, to include the different perspectives of arguments. For me his approach is liek a role model in dealing with people and situations. I have learnt a lot by thus observing.

Over the weekend we had participated in a seminar of our spiritual teacher Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar in Amettla, some 60 km south of Tarragona. He deepened several topics about the spiritual significance of numbers into which he had delved during the seminar in Samos about the wisdom teachings of Pythagoras 2 weeks ago. It was again fascinating to see the relations between numbers, rhythms and time cycles. The numbers 1 – 9 are not just a linear numerical sequence, but contain the seeds of the structures of the subjective and objective creation – seeds of wisdom to ponder upon.
About 200 group members mainly from Spain had gathered for the seminar. The sunday morning fire ritual on the beach was a special highlight. Before the start a fiery object (it probably wasn’t a meteorit because of the kind of direction) flew for some seconds silently and in high speed in a horizontal line over the ocean before disappearing again. The sun coming slowly up over the horizon, the waves’ rhythmic movement and the flames of the fire, together with the mantric songs, created an unforgettable ambience, which uplifted all those witnessing it with an open heart and mind.

Yesterday we went from Switzerland to Girona, Spain with two friends from Germany, transporting some packets of new publications of the World Teacher Trust to a seminar of our spiritual teacher in Spain near Taragona.
When crossing the borders between Switzerland and France, and then again between France and Spain, it was fascinating to experience the significant change of atmosphereal qualities.
Here in Girona we are staying overnight in the house of spiritual friends, a doctor and a family therapist, with whom we will go today to the seminar. It was a very warm welcome, and we had an inspiring exchange and meditations together. It was like coming to close family members. It is fascinating to see how the inner work is finding expression in different countries through different forms of good will work, carried through by the impulse of spirituality.

Yesterday we went to Einsiedeln to meet there our spiritual teacher, Dr. Kumar,� and a few friends. In the afternoon we saw a 50 years old Indian film about a story from the the great epic Mahabharata. The film called “Mayabazar” was – of course – about a love story with dance sequences reminding of modern Bollywood productions. At the same time it contained deep wisdom.

The film was in Telugu, and our teacher explained the sequences in English. It was fascinating to see how the manipulative tendencies of the one party were checked by illusions created by the Divine (Krishna), without interfering directly into the course of events. It reminded me of how� we enmesh ourselves, when we use manipulative machinations. It is a persistent theme in life to get trapped by self-caused illusions – and mostly we think it is the others who are doing us wrong and causing problems. Only when we, like Krishna here in the film, stay in a position of an observer, we have a chance of getting out of the self-deceptions.

Numbers haven’t left a deep impact on my way of thinking, neither in school, where I wasn’t good in mathematics, nor later in life, nor in economic contexts. I also wasn’t much touched by coming across teachings about the qualitative side of numbers, neither during the time at university, nor my formation or work as a teacher in an anthroposophical school some 20 years ago, nor later during my spiritual studies.
But somehow last week’s seminar on the wisdom of Pythagoras has stirred an impulse and touched me in the core in a way I cannot yet grasp. There is an inner echoe going on. With matters just studied, it goes into the brain and gets stored there somehow, but with experiences touching me existentially, they tend to transform my life.
It seems to me that for the first time numbers have shown to me a tast of their inner essence, when I listened to Dr. Kumar speaking about the Pythagorean decade and the qualities of 1+2+3+4=10 or 1x2x3x4=24 or the qualities and relation of the other numbers. Seeing in a meditative experience the numbers as pre-conscious structuring elements of existence ruling over the whole manifestation of life and being somehow a shorthand form to express deep and complex patterns in a seedform opened for me a new attitude toward these strange and at the same time familiar intelligences called numbers.
I wonder how this sprouting seed is developing.

Yesterday evening, after work: I was driving with my motorbicycle back home from work during rush hour. There was a jam at a roundabout, and so I took a way which I sometimes take along tennis-courts on the side of a forest, which is free for pedestrians, bicycles and moterbicycles.
Half way through a man with a bicycle with a children’s cart with two children in it coming from the other direction stopped me and said: “Don’t you want to take the road?”. I replied: “This way is free for motorbicycles.” – Yes I know, but here is a forest and I would prefer for my children and me that there is no motor traffic here, in this forest air. Don’t you want to take the road?” I said: “No, I would prefer going on” and drove away. I felt irritated and started reflecting on the encounter. I had to agree that the man was right and that my insisting on the right to go through that way was mainly because of the feeling that I didn’t like being approached like this and out of a feeling of being right.
Being fixed in my conviction, I could not react to the concern of this courageous father.
Though this small way is a shortage when coming in the morning, for returning home I could just as well take the road, though a traffic light might sometimes stop me.
So I decided to change my habit and take the road in future.
