Yesterday I got an e-mail from a friend in Minnesota, US:
“Good Morning dear friend. I have just read your blog for this morning. For a couple of weeks, I have been noticing the things you’ve touched on in your blog post – maybe in a more particular way even. Wherever I look right now, it seems that people are striving to make profound changes in their lives. It seems to be “the right time” for sweeping transformations. I think there is not one person in my circle of friends who does not undergo changes of some sort in their lives. From breaking up relationships, to new jobs, to relocations, or making decisions of far-reaching consequences… a whole series of processes seems to be taking place. Never in my life – not that I consciously remember – have I witnessed such a tremendous shift. It seems to me that people consciously choose to make changes toward a freer life. The basis for their striving seems to be a desire for integrity and creative expression. I’m seeing people being more confident, having a very positive and joyful outlook on the future. The energy feel very profound to me, filled with hope and trust; a very fundamental energetic change altogether.
My question to you is: is this a result of the planetary constellations? Or does it have to do with the series of significant full moons we are currently having? Or maybe both? Or am I maybe imagining it all? “

When you observe events in your life, you see that on the one hand there are cyclical movements of ebb and flow, and these pulsations of life can be observed in smaller or greater systems. One is the inbreath and outbreath of the annual cycle, marked by the rhythm of the solstices and equinoxes. In the ascending arc from winter to summer solstice the time from spring equinox to summer solstice, through Aries, Taurus and Gemini, is often marked by the springing up of new vistas of ideas, expressing in changing one’s situations, or “getting changed” by the trend of things.
Since the time of my starting regular meditation just now 32 years ago, and especially since the early 80ies I have been observing cyclical rhythms, by observing life experiences and by using instruments of spiritual astrology symbolisms, which have found an expression in the Letters on Spiritual Astrology. When you observe from outside-in and ponder on it from inside out, you are developing an understanding of life phenomena in terms of energy and principle qualities, getting to a more synthetic (not simplified) view of time movements. I do not want to speculate about the complex reasons involved in the changes in your environment. As a meta-trend however, I observe in general a speeding up of individual life situations, in individuals, groups and in greater systems. When you get sensitive to changes, being exposed to them, you tend to see them more in your environment. The general speed of our age is increasing by what the wisdom teachings call the energies of synthesis expressing on our planetary life, and the quality of the time, called the Aquarian age. This is particularly seizing people exposing themselves consciously to these energies through their inner attunement to the soul. Maybe this gives some hints to a deeper understanding.

I yesterday got an e-mail from a young woman fom the French speaking part of Switzerland, who had visited us last year. The contact came via the Good-Will website and was motivated by her spiritual search. She now wrote that, after some turbulent months, she is just about to leave Switzerland, direction Sahara and Ocean, to live together with “her prince”, whom she had met a short while ago.
The lines gave me a lot to think, of my own coming to Switzerland 20 years ago, following the call of love… Of another e-mail arriving yesterday from a friend, who had gone to the States some years ago and is just leaving her friend’s house to get out of the relation… Of the news in the media the last days of the many African people crossing the ocean in tiny boats towards Teneriffa or Italy, in search of a better life in Europe… Of the many dramatic stories I had come across during the 90ies, when I was head of a psychosocial counseling centre for refugees and migrants…
The search for a better life and living is such a strong motivating force, expressing in so many biographical stories – of love, dreams, hopes. The underlying force is not just that of woman and man, it is part of the essence of man. In the more subtle way it is the expression of the search of the personality toward the soul, depicted in many fairy tales as the search of the prince (the soul) for the lost princess (the personality lost in material life).
The symbol of the young lady who is about to follow her prince is the rainbow. May the many coloured bridge lead her to the true goal of her dreams.

Yesterday morning I had a conversation with the collegue from the marketing section with whom I share the room in my office. I explained to her how I was evaluating the different issues of corporate blogging for our humanitarian NGO by screening the web, talking to different persons in charge, clearing technical questions, pondering over relevances… Levelling the ground for introducing blogging into the organisation has a lot of different issues involved.
She asked me if I were not sometimes getting confused and lost in the many influences. When at home she is surfing a while along topics of traveling, she feels like getting out of herself. I told her that only by keeping the connection with the inner through the regular meditation I stay in contact with my Self and thus remain in balance. It is like doing a defragmentation on a harddisk and bringing the different bits and bytes back to order.
During each day there is such a great shifting between worlds. Yesterday I was quickly at an Indian grocer’s shop buying ingredients for my wife, thus suddenly entering into the Eastern world of smells and impressions – fish, calamari, crustaceans, pastries, spices, perfumes. At home from noon on – clearing educational questions about the balance between computer and school for the children with my wife, e-mailing, studying, group meeting for the full moon meditation. Maintaining the inner connection is absolutely essential to experience the underlying unity and not to fall apart into many different identifications with the outer.

We yesterday had our monthly Mithila-meeting with our youngsters and those of a close friend (age 13 – 17). To impart our children a spiritual education is very important to us. Since neither the education system nor the churches are doing this, we started some years ago with regular sunday morning meetings with our children and to speak about spiritual topics, inspired by the book “Mithila – A New Age School Syllabus” of Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar. We do a short meditation, speak about basics of spiritual life, or some experience-related topics. We have also read some books together, such as Jonathan Livingston Seagull, or now a renarration of the Ramayana.
Though the youngsters are still participating with interest, it is not easy to cope with the strong currents coming from the society in which they are growing up. They are intend not to be regarded as “strange” by their comrades, and they lead a very normal life. They won’t follow our footsteps in their lives, but we feel they have the strength to follow their own paths into a good direction.
Friends of us are running a website called “Jugendforum Mithila“. It is a good impulse of giving children access to spiritual values via the web.
We observe with our children and their collegues, that again new qualities are ripening in them. They will unfold with time and start shaping the next generation’s wave.

Yesterday I got an e-mail from a friend telling me that he will lose his job in some months. He is a professor of psychology at a university in the south-west of the United States and had moved there last autumn from another university in the north-east. He already had told me before that the situation was difficult, since part of the collegues, who hadn’t favored his employment had intensely been mobbing against him.
We first had met each other through a contact via the web 2.5 years ago, later we had shared a room at a seminar of our spiritual teacher in India and again met at three occasions in Europe. From the beginning there was a feeling of a deep connection, for we had been walking a very similar spiritual path over many years. It was a feeling of meeting a brother. It is more profound than physical relatives. Spiritual brotherhood comes out of a similarity of inner alignment to the soul, a striving towards the same pole, a convergence of ideas.
This convergence keeps souls together, to my belief and according to the wisdom teachings over lives. It is deeper than superficial emotional or mental affinities. I have experienced that there exist groups of people following the same quality of attunement, sharing similar attitudes towards the inner purpose. The people with whom I experience this kind of connection are physically dispersed over the globe. With the web it is more easy to keep in contact or even co-operate in a project.
My American brother has a lot of skills and resources. I am sure that, though he is no longer the youngest that he will find a good way out of this professional crisis, bringing him to a new field of experience.

My wife is a piano teacher. Yesterday evening she told me that one of her students just had been very fascinated. The student had experienced that she was using different faculties in playing – imagination, hearing, sense of touch – and my wife had explained her how there is an interplay of these. The student was very grateful and told my wife: “You are always giving me so much.” My wife answered: “I give what I have, and in giving it starts flowing. When you keep it to you, the flow is stopped, and also when you just keep on receiving without giving.” And she told me: “It is like a lying 8, the sign of infinity. It keeps in motion, when you give, without expectation to receive something in return. It is an energy circulation.”
In the “Spiritual Psychology” meditations by Dr. Ekkirala Krishnamacharya, one meditation says: “Bliss lies in giving, not in taking…” It is a deep principle and only little understood today. Many are craving for getting and taking – money, power, love, ideas, emotional affection… In this attitude the free flow is absorbed by you. And when you give out of an expectation to get something in return, you get frustrated, when it doesn’t happen and feel burnt out.

At the moment I am working in my free time at the annual report for the Western groups of the World Teacher Trust, a socio-spiritual movement, with which we have been associated over the last 9 years. It is fascinating to get a little insight into the work done by various groups in Europe, North and South America, who, inspired by the wisdom teachings, are trying to integrate regular meditation and study with some volunteer service activity, besides the activities for one’s own economic indepency.
Balancing all these aspects is quite a challenge in modern life, which has quite other priorities. Our spiritual teacher, Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar, is an outstanding example of this intelligent integration – as a business man working actively in the economic, social and cultural fields, with spirituality as the basis.
Each group has quite another approach and a quality of its own. The intergroup networking to gain an insight into these service activities is only possible due to the use of our electronic equipments via computer, web-telephone, or the “classical” phones. This kind of co-operation would’t have been possible only a few years ago. It creates a new quality of interlinking in a free good-will work on the basis of a spiritual impulse, which the general commercial world with its economic power has already adopted in a highly sophisticated manner.

Yesterday a parcel with wisdom-books from India arrived, after a 3 month sea journey. Another parcel posted on the same day had arrived already a month ago. The parcel, sewn into a linnen wrapping and sealed with sealing wax, smelled orient. I had bought the books during my stay in India in January. It now arrived as a messenger from afar.

Three years ago I had started presenting the books of the WTT on the good-will website and distributing some of them for free to interested seekers, since it is nearly impossible to get these excellent books somewhere in the West. Some friends are supporting us financially in this work, and some of the recipients give a contribution.

I like very much this opportunity to come into contact with spiritual seekers, and fruitful contacts have thus developed. The requests come from all continents, thought sometimes there are immodest request, which I answer politely, but clearly.
Wisdom books cannot be eaten with spoons, and a speedy reading only causes indigestion. But used in the right way, with the right inner attitude, they open up vistas into the inner worlds.

Our last excursion in Berlin brought us to the Brandenburger Gate and the Reichstag building, the old and new seat of the German government. Both places next to each other reflect more than any other place the dramatic history of Germany and of the meeting point of hemispheres. In a side part of the Branderburger Gate there is now a Room of Silence, like the silent core in the inner of our being, where you find the inner peace of the Eternal. We sat down there for a short meditation.
At the Reichstag we went up with the elevator to the great glass dome located directly over the plenary hall of the Bundestag. There you have a very impressive sight over Berlin. Since olden times a cupola represents the head and the cosmos. A government is the head centre of a country. Here the head is not of stone, but of glass, and in the middle of i t there is a vortex-like structure with mirrors directly in the middle. This lightful structure full of transparency expresses very well the trend of time into the Aquarian age, where matter becomes lighter and more light-infused. The mirror-vortex reminded me of the sahasrara, the human head-centre of subtle energies, which in an enlightened being is open to the energies from above and distributing them to the surrounding life. It is the apex of the vertical line starting from the base of the spine.
May the work being done here at the bottom of the vortex, in the plenary hall, be inspired from the cosmic law and energies. So when descending the spirallic pathway from the top of the dome, we sang in a low voice the sacred word OM.

Yesterday we went to a little airport in the north-west of Berlin. The son of our friends is an enthusiastic glider pilot and spends his entire free time there at the glider club. The bumpy road to the airport once served as a runway for Russian warplanes. On both sides of the road there were grass-covered shelters where at communist times the aircrafts were stationed. Three glider clubs had bought the huge site in the 90ies and now do their starts on a long grass runway.
At the morning meeting of the club members we were presented as the guests from abroad and listened for the instructions for the day. Then we went over to the new hangar, where about two dozens of gliders and a few small motor aircrafts were standing closely side by side. We rolled our two-seater out of the hall and pushed it over to the runway. It took some time until all the gliders were out and the old truck with the hoist was placed at the other end of the runway.
The starts began: Within 1, 2 seconds the gliders were in the air, and after a few seconds they reached already the hight of about 500 meters, from where the cable dropped down and the glider started its way through the air.
After the starts of my sons it was my turn. With a parachute on the back and some instructions how ot get out in case of an emergency we took off. I was pressed into my seat while we shooted up like a rocket, only to shift over into the horizontal after a few more seconds. I still had frayed nerves, when we got into a thermal lift and circled upwards.
It was fascinating to experience how through the use of the upward currents we were climbing up instead of falling down. It is like the energies of the kundalini ascending the vertical tube subtle inner side of the spinal column, lifting the consciousness up into the spaces of higher realms, when you get, through spiritual disciplines, into a “thermal lift” after due preparations.
