Yesterday I got an e-mail from a friend in Minnesota, US:
“Good Morning dear friend. I have just read your blog for this morning. For a couple of weeks, I have been noticing the things you’ve touched on in your blog post – maybe in a more particular way even. Wherever I look right now, it seems that people are striving to make profound changes in their lives. It seems to be “the right time” for sweeping transformations. I think there is not one person in my circle of friends who does not undergo changes of some sort in their lives. From breaking up relationships, to new jobs, to relocations, or making decisions of far-reaching consequences… a whole series of processes seems to be taking place. Never in my life – not that I consciously remember – have I witnessed such a tremendous shift. It seems to me that people consciously choose to make changes toward a freer life. The basis for their striving seems to be a desire for integrity and creative expression. I’m seeing people being more confident, having a very positive and joyful outlook on the future. The energy feel very profound to me, filled with hope and trust; a very fundamental energetic change altogether.
My question to you is: is this a result of the planetary constellations? Or does it have to do with the series of significant full moons we are currently having? Or maybe both? Or am I maybe imagining it all? “

When you observe events in your life, you see that on the one hand there are cyclical movements of ebb and flow, and these pulsations of life can be observed in smaller or greater systems. One is the inbreath and outbreath of the annual cycle, marked by the rhythm of the solstices and equinoxes. In the ascending arc from winter to summer solstice the time from spring equinox to summer solstice, through Aries, Taurus and Gemini, is often marked by the springing up of new vistas of ideas, expressing in changing one’s situations, or “getting changed” by the trend of things.
Since the time of my starting regular meditation just now 32 years ago, and especially since the early 80ies I have been observing cyclical rhythms, by observing life experiences and by using instruments of spiritual astrology symbolisms, which have found an expression in the Letters on Spiritual Astrology. When you observe from outside-in and ponder on it from inside out, you are developing an understanding of life phenomena in terms of energy and principle qualities, getting to a more synthetic (not simplified) view of time movements. I do not want to speculate about the complex reasons involved in the changes in your environment. As a meta-trend however, I observe in general a speeding up of individual life situations, in individuals, groups and in greater systems. When you get sensitive to changes, being exposed to them, you tend to see them more in your environment. The general speed of our age is increasing by what the wisdom teachings call the energies of synthesis expressing on our planetary life, and the quality of the time, called the Aquarian age. This is particularly seizing people exposing themselves consciously to these energies through their inner attunement to the soul. Maybe this gives some hints to a deeper understanding.

Today we are entering the full moon phase of Taurus full moon. Since ancient times this day is celebrated in the East, and also today with many groups in the West, as Vaisakh (or Wesak) Full moon. On this full moon day about 2500 years ago Gautama, the Buddha, was born, and also on Vaisakh full moon he gained enlightenment.
However, it is not just since these times that the Vaisakh festival is celebrated. The name of the festival related to one of the 27 constellations of the Eastern lunar zodiac, the Visakha constellation in Scorpio. The moon is in this constellation around Taurus full moon, when the sun is in Taurus, thus giving the name for the festival.
Like many groups we will be celebrating this date tonight with a full moon meditation. The nodal points of the monthly lunar cycle are of great importance to be able to gain more easily access to subtle planes of consciousness, especially the full moon and the new moon, as explained in the lecture by Dr. Ekkirala Krishnamacharya. For this full moon I have chosen as a topic of the “Lunar Messenger” “The Buddhic Plane“, hinting at another deep relation with the full moon of Taurus and the name of the Buddha. Some months a go a friend had send me a beautiful picture of a Buddha statue in Bhutan, which I used as the Picture of the Month and add it to the monthly newsletter.
Since four years I am chosing each month a picture related to the qualities of the zodiacal sign of the month. For this month the commentary says: “Golden-yellow is the color of the Buddhic plane, the supra-mental, the light of wisdom. Buddha is seen as the embodiment of wisdom, and statues that depict him are often golden. Contemplation upon this helps the observer to move beyond the boundaries of the mental and to move into the higher light.”

Yesterday was the White Lotus Day, the day for the commemoration of the passing-over of Helena P. Blavatsky (H.P.B.1831 – 1891). Since many years I have been fascinated by this extraordinary women so much disputed until today. In 1996 I wrote a little report about her and published it last year: “H.P.B. – Trailblazer for the Aquarian Age” (Engl./Ger./Span./Fre., you can download it as a pdf). I have read several times her major work the Secret Doctrine, and also other writings, and done 2/3 of the German translation of her fascinating and volumenous travel reports “From the Caves and Jungles of Hindoustan“. The biography of Sylvia Cranston about “H. P. B.: The Extraordinary Life and Influence of Helena Blavatsky” gives a very good insight.
Through her work, H.P. B. caused violent reactions, which ranged from fervent admiration to libel and slander. Her most resolute enemies were from circles of the church as well as of spiritualists, who both felt questioned to their very foundations by the teachings of Blavatsky. The goal of Blavatsky was nothing less than to deliver the death blow to the prevailing scientific materialism and religious dogmatism by pointing to the spiritual truths of the immortal wisdom teachings and by making them available to a larger public.
I don’t know of any cinema film made about her life, I think it would be a most thrilling subject, not only because of her adventurous life, but also because she is a living example of the spiritual awakening of humanity, which today has greatly increased and of which she was a vanguard.

Yesterday a friend from Argentina sent me a link to a yahoo posting showing satellite photos of a partly submerged land-bridge between India and Sri Lanka. A modern proof of an old story?
The great epic Ramayana tells a story the time of which the wisdom teaching locate at the transition time between the Atlantean and the post-Atlantean race, i.e. nearly a million years ago, though modern writers give it a much shorter past or totally doubt the historic autheticity.
A major sequence of the epic tells the story of building a bridge over the ocean between India and Lanka by a group of Vanaras and other mythological beings. From the wisdom teachings I know that the mythological ape-shaped figures of the Vanaras are forms of high beings who, not conditioned by forms, decided to live in these seemingly animal bodies. There are many details in the Ramayana which a so-called scientific thinking would never except as authentic. But maybe there are more research results ahead like those of the satellite photos proving the historic truth of seeming mythologies.

The noble and straightforward main character of the epic, Sri Rama, is a great example of a man following the path of moral law through all the vicissitudes of life. It has deeply impregnated Eastern thought – but who of our Westerners has ever gone into it? About three weeks ago I finished reading a detailed renarration of the epic, which was fascinating to me, and I have also read with my children a modern Indian comic strips retelling the story. Though they are not much interested in stories, they were enthousiastic about the “action story”, which can easily keep up with modern superman-stories.

The 17 years old son of the friends here in Berlin is an enthusiastic glider flyer. If the weather allows, he will take us the next days on a flight at a little airport in the surroundings of Berlin. In this area here the first successfull flights with a glider have been done by Otto Lilienthal at the end of 19th century. His experiments inspired the Wright brothers for their first motorized jumps into the air.
Nowadays flying has become an everyday routine: Yesterday evening the mother of the young glider flyer came home. She is a Lufthansa stewardess and her full schedule had brought her the last two days to the north and south of Europe and back to Berlin.
The speed in the general change of localities has tremendously increased during the last decades, and also the speed of life. The winds of time are strongly blowing in the Aquarian airs. Also in my life the last years have increased the amount of travels, and much more the amount of far distant connections and cooperations over the continents. Distances are shrinking, while speed is increasing. You learn to keep stable while “flying” at high speed through quickly changing worlds of experience.
A look over the shoulders of my children into the worlds of their computer games opens up worlds of concretised imagination. We have to learn to steer well our little airplanes through the storm of impressions.

It is always fascinating to observe how out of the multitude of thoughts we come across every day certain thoughts are picked up and others not. Most remain unrelevant, a few ones we follow, and some are even so powerful that they shape our destiny. Sometimes we follow a dead-end road, out of which it is often painful to come out.
It is my experience, that new, future-oriented thoughts also often cause fear and irritation. Blocks and opposition is coming up. I am just confronted with such a situation. I have learned by time that it is mostly contraproductive to fight against these blockages (personified in persons), but look out how the flow can go on.
I feel that I have to stay in contact with the original inspiring power of the idea motivating the thoughts and not let it be diverted into side-issues or wrong motives. This will cause the death of the idea. Sometimes you might follow such an idea which has become dead because of the diversion from the origin.
This reminds me a of saying of the American Indians, that you shouldn’t ride a dead horse, and when you feel you are doing so, you better get off. Waiting for the right moment is something else. It demands attention for the door of time to open for a new direction.

At times there seem to be crosscurrents on the way, blocking the free flow of energies. Then the traffic lights on your way all seem to be red. Yesterday, especially in evening was such an experience, when some technical problems with the PC helt me in check. Suddenly you have to wait, and all ways you try to go on seem not to lead ahead. In the parlance of astrological symbology it is Saturn working.
Of course in these moments my mind speeds up and tries to find out a solution or a logic behind the obstacles. Sometimes this leads to nothing, and the best seems to be to keep quiet inside and be watchful. Letting things go often clears the way, and an inner alignment to the soul helps overcoming the feeling of being blocked. So I switched off.

This morning I woke up from an intense, a bit confuse dream, after a short night. Oh, I thought, we are just in the full moon hours, which for me are always a crest in the wave of a month’s cycle. Since the early 80ies I am observing the lunar cycles – observing in the double sense of the word, having a look at them and following their rhythm with a scheme of meditation. And since 2000 I publish every month for the full moon a newsletter, which now goes under the name of The Lunar Messenger.
This regular observation helps understanding the cyclical and at the same time ever-changing rhythms in the inner. It is not amassing any theoretical thoughts about it, but more of a scientific attitude, and this not by collecting any data, but by experiencing. This subjective research gives a depth and a strength which for me is of evidence, beyond any doubt.
Each full moon – like also each day – carries a specific quality. It is a doorway opening to what time offers at this specific moment. It is a periodical, rhythmic heart-beat, which goes unnoticed and subliminal, like that in our body, when not focused at. But when I align to the pulsation, I come in tune with the inner nature – which is not mine, but a present of the Presence. So the full moon is like a flower of time, blossoming for a short while, and a change in the currents. “Watch the time, for it is the very life of Life”, says and old saying.

Today is sunday – the meteorologists expect not just a sunny day. Clouds however don’t bother the sun, just us, he continues shining. In spirituality the sun stands for spirit, the eternal, while the moon, with its phases of waxing and waning, for matter. Very significant that today in the West we start the week with Monday, and Sunday is just a day off, at the very end of the week. Here even the shopping times are slowly extended, “for a better economy” as they say. Economy rules, we are in a materialistic mainstream time.
The sun continues to be the centre of our system, even if scientists since long have discovered its tiny dimensions in the vast surrounding. Not to speak of the lost dimensions of inner significance. Sun stands for light, and thus consciousness. Sunday is a good day to align with it. It somehow has a different quality than Saturday or Monday, it’s not just a cultural convenience. Having Friday as the centre and moon as the central planet for yearly rhythms gives a lot to think of, even down to politics and the so-called clash of cultures.
When installing this blog I have set the time to a weekly start on Sunday, and may this continue to be so, also with the way the blog proceeds.

When I had a look out into the garden this morning, all was covered with april-snow. It was quite different from the rain yesterday and the warm night before.
Every day, yes every hour and moment has a different quality. It unfolds like a seed and bud through time. The German writer Michael Ende has given a beautiful description of this in his book “Momo”. It is very fascinating to sense the quality of the hours and thus try to unlog the key of time. This is what Spiritual Astrology is all about. I am not much interested in normal astrology, but I am observing since years the changing qualities of
time and compare it with the daily ephemerides to gain an understanding of the rhythms and movements of the time cycles. To look at time as chronology measured by watches, like science does seems to me like reducing a multi-dimensional happening to a one-dimensional line.
However working with the key of time is more an art than a science in the ordinary understanding, for it requires being linked to ones inner and remain an observer.
