Yesterday was Libra new moon. New moon is the darkest point of the month, also concerning psychic energy. And in spirituality Libra is regarded as the darkest point of the year, where it is more difficult to keep the thread to the light of the soul.

So this time is compared to a bottomless pit into which you can easily fall. It stands for the impermeable Nature causing a veil of illusion. In the east the impermeable Nature is visualised as Durga, the “Mother Impermeable”. Durga means, “impossible to move”.

It says it is very difficult to overcome the illusion of the Mother or the matter, and she stands at the threshold of the illusion of life. Sri Kumar says, “Unless you are in a program of discharging your karma you cannot enter into the inner chambers, and Durga blocks the way.”

Durga is depicted as a lady on a lion, the wild energies of matter. The mantram related to Durga is Dum, or Dum Durgayi Namaha (MP3). The most propitious time to invoke the mantram is on the first 10 days of the ascending moon in the month of Libra.

Last year Sri Kumar wrote, “People interested may contemplate upon the Mother with the lion, with the mantra ‘Dum Durgayei Namaha’. It can be said 108 times in the morning and 108 times in the evening after a shower, putting on fresh clothes and a fresh mind. …. It is an elaborate ritual, which people do not need to pick up. It is enough if they chant the mantra, morning and evening.”

When Durga is invoked, she protects and gives access, we are given the way through.

In Eastern wisdom teachings there is the concept of Pralaya, the state after one creation ended and before another one starts.

A week ago I experienced a “computer pralaya” – suddenly during writing my PC went down. Two, three times I could start it up, but after a few minutes it crashed again, and then it didn’t start up anymore. We were speculating about what was the reason for these crashes – the hard-disk was running on my son’s PC – and so I asked the service desk at my office. Describing the symptoms, the verdict was: The motherboard must be broken, nothing to do.

So while I was at the office, my wife set out with my eldest son to a computer store, where a friend of his is working as a salesperson – and they got a good bargain, a display item.

What came now reminded me of the description of “post-death-experiences” – where the soul withdraws all impressions into the memory stores of the permanent atoms to come back to another landing place / body for continuing its path of experiencing.

For the PC reincarnation we took out the old hard-disk drive and installed it in the new PC to have the data and files saved. But like with reincarnation, not all the many programs ran on the new machine – and all the software with registry entries didn’t do. So – downloading, buying, reinstalling. It was like the soul getting hold over the new body step by step.

Now the new machine is running well, and much better than the old one. How long will the “cycle of manifestation” of this PC incarnation last?

In Eastern wisdom a fish drawing some kind of an ark is the symbol of saving the seeds of one cosmic creation to the other. A work of art of an exposition at a nearby river.

We had a beautiful autumn equinox seminar with Sri Kumar in Kandersteg last Tuesday to Thursday, with about 85 persons from Germany, Spain and Switzerland. It was a very familiar meeting with profound lectures, nice exchanges and clear autumn weather over the mountains.

Here is a short extract from Wednesday’s morning lecture about the energies of Libra:

“Living in balance and also giving that balance to others enables us to receive the grace of the Most High. You cannot give the balance, you can only give the know-how to work it out. That has to be done without exception if you stand balanced in every aspect of life. Even an act of goodwill can become a glamour. If you get excessively connected to the books without the related action you become a bookworm, they don’t give you the balance. You can also get the habit of listening to teachings without practicing, it is also a grip, People can be obsessed with book reading and writing or seminars. Obsession is not desirable in any aspect of life. The law of alternation brings you back to balance.

If you are excessively obsessed with money you lose it, if you are excessively obsessed with health you get sick. If you are excessively obsessed with slim it supplies energies to the weight. Obsessions are avoidable, that is a law. Too many healthy habits can land you in sickness – be moderate. Moderation is strongly recommended. Excess is avoidable everywhere, in every aspect of life.

Don’t be excessive, be moderate, when you are moderate you tend to be nearer to the centre. Balance is in the centre. Centre gives you unfoldment. Only when there is unfoldment you call it a centre. Be in the centre and relate to the circumference. The centre of your being is I AM. You move into the surrounding through your personality with the help of your body. Do not lose the help of the centre. When the centre and circumference stand connected that is when you are in action you are conscious of your action, your speech, your movement. When you are centred in consciousness and move into objectivity there is a retaining the centre-circumference relation, that is wisdom.”

Fire ritual, Thursday morning

Today at noon Master KPK (Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar) and his son Sekhar came to our house for lunch, together with some group members. We had a very nice time together. I was again fascinated to observe how he spoke with the group members, giving his full attention and uplifting presence. After the meal we took some group picture in the garden and sat for a while in the sun. A little later they left again to go to Zermatt, where they wanted to pass the night at the foot of the Matterhorn.

Half an hour later we got a phone call: A bag with some belongings had remained in our living room; so I took the car and went off. I met them again in Spiez  and joined them for a cup of tea at beautiful place on the board of the lake Thun. We said good-bye, but only for a short moment: Next Tuesday will start the group living for autumn equinox in Kandersteg. Friday I had already been there to bring the flowers for the altar to the hotel.

Sometimes time seems to open a door for just a short moment,where you can walk through and meet a special constellation. If you are awake you can use it and experience the gift of that situation. This week I had this experience 2-3 times where things took an interesting turn, offering once an opportunity for growth in a very short time frame I could use well, once a surprising encounter and once  a fulfilling meeting. These situations come up unexpectedly and leave a mark in the general flow of events.

Impressions of today’s morning walk with a friend through a nearby park illustrate this unexpected opening of surprising vistas in life.

At the moment there is an art exhibition in our village along the Aare river called Art at the Water (Kunst am Wasser). Over a distance of about 20 km there are different art installations. (The photo book about the Aare has also been realised in the context of this project.) Here are some impressions from this afternoon.

Last weekend a new painting came, called “Lotus of the Soul”. You can download here the high-resolution version or see it in the gallery “Images of Synthesis”.

The symbol in the middle is Sanskrit for OM, the primordial sound. The picture is inspired by lines of Sri Kumar from The Teacher, N°. 46:

“In the previous attribute the spiritual permanent atom was spoken of. It is the centre of the electric blue beyond which there is the seeming nothingness which expresses as the subtlest point. This subtlest deep blue point expresses like an electrical blue. Beyond this is the Absolute Existence and this blue point is the primary emergence. A Self-realized one anchors in this point and remains blue. Sound and light remain its attributes. This is the threshold between seeming nothingness and apparent something. It is the point of emergence of Existence as awareness. It is the trill, the first spur that emerges from which all apparent existence comes through. In scriptural terminology this is called the cosmic centre. It is from this centre, from out of the deep blue, other manifestations happen. After this blue there is the manifestation of red and yellow. As explained earlier when man enters into subtle fields he first encounters the golden-yellow light followed by orange and later aquamarine and then blue.
All this can be experienced in the heart lotus which is four-layered. The heart lotus is but four triangles placed one above the other in different directions. It appears like a twelve-petalled lotus. The four triangles appear with their angles as a twelve-petalled lotus. The outermost triangle carries the light of golden hue. The one interior to it carries the light of aquamarine. The next interior triangle shines forth with the colour of blue. The finer, the most interior triangle carries the colour of deep blue.
All these four triangles are connected through the centre like a rosary. Through the centre of the final triangle it leads to seeming nothingness which is everything. Through the central channel the energy beyond flows and takes to different sound notes and colour notes.
When one enters into this central channel he listens a naturally vibrating sound which is like OM. It is OM unuttered (Anahata). Uttering OM is only to orient to the unuttered OM. The culmination of all utterances is into deep silence, and in that deep silence the eternal sound is to be heard.”

Since some months I am in contact with a serious seeker. He is asking profound questions concerning the teachings, and I have sent him several books of the WTT. He recently wrote:

“Reading through the books I have had to put them down for now, I simply cannot follow the eastern way of life, as a parent and with my duties, whilst not impossible, I could not follow to the letter, nor would it be practical to carry round an orange book all day (as suggested by Master EK in Spiritual Psychology)! I think I have to accept for now, it’s not practical to even consider following the suggestions. If I got up at 4.30 am for a start it would cause problems for the rest of the house. …
So I have to really rule these things out. The book on ‘Healing‘ is much in the same vein of ‘you should be doing this and that’ – again: Simply not possible.
It’s a shame there is no teaching school in England I could attend, It would be great to learn and practice many of the mantras and live that way of life. Even if briefly. I would like to meet the master in person, but this is out of my hands.”

I replied: “I had to smile when reading your lines, about ‘I cannot follow the eastern way of life’, and all the regulations … Neither can I nor do I know anyone who can follow all this bunch of regulations – it would simply be an overkill.

When going to a supermarket, you don’t eat all the stuff you see there. So it is also with the ‘you should do’s’ in the books and the teachings – these are suggestions, proposals. There is very little being the very core of the teaching: The morning and evening invocations, observing the silence afterwards (or better: just staying inside, when there is no inner silence  🙂 ) and doing good will activities, trying to see the One in all.

The rest are ‘tools’, guidelines, aids on the way. So don’t overeat, it will cause indigestion: ‘Keep it simple and stupid.’

As per the orange book, I keep it at my meditation place, and when some thoughts come, I try to put them down. Sri Kumar has it in his briefcase. He once showed it to me at Zurich airport and read out a dialog he had written into it in the morning:
“Master, why is it always raining when I come to Switzerland? – It is because there are so many emotions to be cleared”…. 🙂

Wherever you connect with the Master and the teachings, you are in the teaching school, wherever it is. Sri Kumar calls it “mobile ashrams”. It is not a physical structure. These are old-way concepts thinking of schools to go there, learn a lot and practice there…. Your house is your teaching and learning school.

Of course, it is very great and uplifting, when you get the occasion to meet the master physically, but when it’s not possible, what’s worthwhile grieving, it doesn’t help. Better be practical and make an inner ‘phone call’ to THE MASTER, asking him. When the answer does not come from the channel you expect it look out if the answer comes via other channels from the cosmic inner-net or other outside sources. What is inside and what is outside? What is not the Master’s channel?”
