In Search of Tracks and Traces of Albert Sassi, Spiritual Colleague of Master EK

Friday, September 19th, 2014

In the foreword of some of his writings, Master EK gives thanks to a man who called forth the books into existence – Albert Sassi. He calls him his “spiritual colleague”. In one of his books, on “Master CVV“, he even describes how he came to know Mr. Sassi and met him for the first time in 1963 in the Blue Mountains, the Nilagiris of South India.

Who is this man who gave the impulse for some of the most profound books of Master EK such as Spiritual Astrology, Spiritual Psychology, and the Book of Rituals? And to whom Master EK also gave a text which seems to be lost – or do you know anything about the whereabouts of “Female Hierarchy”? A few days ago, Sri Kumar wrote to me: “What interests me is the text on Female Hierarchy coming from Master EK. If we can trace and publish it that would be very fulfilling. I am on search for it. It is also mentioned in Spiritual Astrology.” So if you know any traces where a copy of this script might be, please let me know.

In search of tracks and traces, I made some very interesting findings.

In 1989, an old theosophist from a town near Frankfort, Johannes Weder, invited me to his home. He wanted to give me all books I wanted to take from his huge library – he was preparing for his passing. I left with two banana boxes filled with valuable old theosophical books, all the books of Master EK published up to then and six volumes of  the “Lettres d’Albert Sassi”, the correspondence of Mr. Sassi in French on hectographed paper, from 1960 until shortly before his death in March 1971. I went through the manuscripts, read about Sassis spiritual work and his encounters with Master EK – and put the texts back into the banana box.

The manuscripts of Albert Sassi

When a week ago I saw the video “Master Mountain – A Retreat into Presence“, a sequence about Albert Sassi suddenly caught my attention. I went into the basement to get the manuscripts of his letters. I paged through all of them and marked everything about Rishi Agastya, the Nilagiris and Master EK. While reading my interest rose, and I started translating the paragraphs. Here is the compilation (PDF) – I added some “goodies”.

Albert_Sassi
Albert Sassi, a print-screen from the video of the WTT group of Bangalore.

Little is to be found about him on the web and it is partly in contradiction to what he wrote in his letters: an eulogy without date published at his retirement, a few biographical remarks, and some lines about him in a biography about Elisabeth Warnon (1915-1997, see detailed information here, in French), one of his disciples, with whom he lived in India for several years. There Warnon also speaks about her exchange with Master EK on the Feminine Hierarchy (English version see in my translation). Elisabeth also edited the “Lettres d’Albert Sassi”. The following is taken from these letters.

His birth date remains unclear, it must be end of the 19th century in Italy. At the age of 18, he receives a price as a mechanical and electrical engineer. He makes a stage working with electrical machines and then goes to Brazil, installing in 1913 power and electricity in the state of Sao Paolo. In 1915, during World War 1, he becomes volunteer pilot in Italy, and after a short training he is already a pilot instructor. In 1917, he instructs the first American volunteers: “America doesn’t have neither airplanes nor pilots; they sent 1000 volunteers to France and 400 to Italy.” He instructs them on two different airplanes.

In 1919, he returns to Switzerland “for the work of the Master”, as he writes in 1960, to prepare Geneva for the future League of Nations. From 1939 till 1959, he is a high ranking officer at the Geneva Department of Commerce working for labour rights (until his retirment in 1959), where he served for 30 years, from 1952 he was a professor of Labour Law.

At the same time, he follows an intense spiritual journey, as a very open high dignitary member of the Theosophical Society (TS) in Geneva, a priest of the Liberal Catholic Church founded by theosophists and member of a masonic lodge, the Droit Humain. Directly after his retirement he goes to India, together with Elisabeth Warnon, first to the seat of the TS in Adyar. On 8 January 1960, he writes: “The 18th, we will leave for OOTACAMUND in the Nilagiri Hills, where there are the mountains inhabited by the spiritual Regent of India, the Grand Rishi AGASTYA. The mountain, where he took his refuge, is located at an altitude of 2.000 m.” Later he is in Kalimpong near Darjeeling at the feet of the Himalayas, where he has profound inner experiences.

In 1961, they settle in Kotagiri in the Nilagiris, where Elisabeth bought a property they called “Master’s Garden”, located at the boards of the village. There they follow intense spiritual practices and organise art expositions with spiritual paintings. He is painting himself: “My sleeping-room, the old dining hall, contains the HIMALAYAN LAKE, the portrait of the RISHI AGASTYA, the Himalayan place where the WAISAKH festival takes place, with the Lord Maitreya kneeling down before the great natural monolith.” (22 June 1962 – maybe not referring to his paintings). Sassi is intensely working on the French translation of Esoteric Astrology of Master DK / Alice A. Bailey; later, he organises the publication of the book.

In a letter from 1963, he writes: “Madam R. is living in COONOOR, a terrestrial paradise, which is located vis-à-vis of DROUG, the holy mountain, which for a long time has been inhabited by the spiritual regent of India, the Grand Rishi AGASTYA.”

There is no mention about Master EK in his letters before 1965, but Master EK writes in the booklet on Master CVV about the fascinating encounter in 1963:

“While I was its editor (of the astro-spiritual magazine “Mihira”), I discussed an issue in the magazine. It related to the eight planetary conjunctions that was taking place at that time and its significance vis-a-vis the future of the world. During those days in prayer I noticed a comet as also the purpose of the planetary conjunction. Later I came to know that Master C.V.V. himself indicated the comet to his disciples.

This article of mine was noticed and studied by one Mr. Albert Sassi, a senior member of the Theosophical Society. He came from Madras to Guntur to see me, inspired by the article. He had an Ashram in the Nilagiris (Blue Mountains) where he sought discourses from me on Yoga. In 1963, I stayed in his Ashram for a month. On the first day of my stay in the Ashram he did not allow me into his prayer room. This was on account of the restrictions he had as a member of the Theosophical Society. While he was conducting meditation, I was carrying out the prayer of Master C.V.V. After the day’s activity Mr. Sassi expressed that in meditation he saw a new Master whom he did not know before. He explained the noble and the majestic features of the person whom he saw. He enquired who my Master was and asked me to show his picture. I showed the photograph of Master C.V.V. and Mr. Sassi confirmed that it was he who appeared to him in the meditation. He offered his worship to the Master. Thereafter we prayed and meditated together. During my stay with him Mr. Sassi knew fully the Yoga path of Master C.V.V. All the members of the Ashram joined us in the meditation. Besides teaching Yoga I explained the synthesis of the work carried out by the Masters of Wisdom. Mr. Sassi stated that he was striving to know one more Master apart from the Masters of Wisdom named by the Theosophical Society. He had also distinct information, he stated, that this Master belonged to the Ashram of Sage Agastya and that he lives in the caves of Nilagiris. He further stated that he had this information relating to the Master of Nilagiris from one of the direct disciples of a Master of Wisdom. He proceeded to describe that this Master is the spark on the planet of that Great Light Agastya. I understood in the prayers gradually that this new Master whom Mr. Sassi was referring to was Master C.V.V. Master C.V.V. is the Master of the Aquarian age and the sage Agastya is described in the scriptures as the product of Aquarius of higher cycles.

Next day I revealed to Mr. Sassi my experience in the prayer. Mr. Sassi also confirmed through his meditation that the unknown Master working with the Master of wisdom was none other than Master C. V. V. He took a photograph of the Master C.V.V. and placed it in the centre of the altar of his prayer hall. He made similar adjustments in the shrine rooms of those who followed him in Belgium and France. From that time the prayer of the Master is carried out in those centres of the West.” (From: Master CVV)

At the May Call 2011, Sri Kumar spoke about this encounter between Master EK and Albert Sassi, saying: “There was a theosophical house in the Nilagiris and Master EK was meditating to Master CVV in his own room. Then one day Albert Sassi gave the pictures to Master EK, all that we have and who were not known at these times – of Maria, Jesus, Lord Maitreya… He asked him, ‘Which Master you are praying to?’, and Master EK took out the picture of Master CVV. In the Theosophical Society, they have the pictures of all the Masters but not of the Master of the Nilagiris, and he (Sassi) meditated upon Master CVV and understood that it was the Master of the Nilagiris, and he said to him, ‘We had been waiting for this Master’s picture.’ It is he (Sassi) who gave the full text of invocation to Master EK, it was not given out, only 4 stanzas. That was given to him by Albert Sassi, the whole invocation. He invited Master EK to the West. Master EK knew that he had to go to the West, his program was the spiritual fusion of East and West, and that was what he did.”

In a letter from Brussels, 19 March 1968, Sassi writes:

“You ask me for the fifth strophe of the Great Invocation! As per this subject, I would like to immediately specify a point. The text which I will submit to you in the following has absolutely not OFFICIAL character and does not emerge from any authority in that matter.
At his time, the Tibetan has announced that “When the Coming of the Lord will be near, HE would give the fifth strophe of the Great Invocation. As far as I am concerned, I have simply tried to “guess”, to perceive what could be the content of the 5th strophe. I have tried to let play my intuition and the following text is just the result of this purely personal effort. As far as I am concerned, I like to anticipate the “events” and I like to try to scrutinize the future. After all, did not the Tibetan declare that the Coming of the Lord depends from us, depended from the Call of the humanity!
Here is my text in English:

‘From the Avatar of Synthesis who is to come
Let HIS ENERGY pour down upon all Kingdoms
May He lift up the Earth whole
To the Beauty of the King’. ”

In a letter from Kotagiri, 29 September 1965, Sassi writes the first time about Master EK and the beginnings of Spiritual Astrology:

“Very quickly after having the English text from Krishnamacharya about the Female Hierarchy, the latter has started dictating during nearly a month, an important contribution entitled SPIRITUAL ASTROLOGY, of which the text of 322 pages has just arrived with us, very magnificently bound, although it is a work in typewriting – in big format.
In certain chapters of this Oeuvre absolutely unpublished, Krishnamacharya goes very far in the astrological esotericism, especially as far as the discipline related to different Moon phases is concerned. In this aspect, Krishnamacharya goes much farther than the Tibetan in his ESOTERIC ASTROLOGY. And all this is just a beginning.
Indeed, with Krishnamacharya, we could realize here, at Masters’ Garden, an embryo, a prelude, of this FUSION EAST-WEST, which is demanded by the MASTER….

You will be particularly interested to know that Krishnamacharya sees emerging in the future a very close collaboration between FRANCE and INDIA, which has to be built up mutually, through their complementary aspects. And Krishnamacharya likes to define the collaboration in the depths that he has realized with us, like the new Franco-Indian Link, that he constitutes as his new task in this life. This is promising! Because, as I have told you, Krishnamacharya is a fountain of science.”

And some weeks later, he writes in another letter:

“At this moment I prepare the manuscript of Krishnamacharya of 322 pages and the more I go through this extraordinary text, the more my breath is taken by its profoundness. In this extremely compact book, there is material for 3 years of conferences and courses in Europe with a group of selected students. But this is only a beginning, for 6 other books have been announced to us by Krishnamacharya, in addition to a strictly esoteric activity, of which we will speak to you at our return.”

In 1967, Albert Sassi has to return to Europe due to his bad health, and he settles in Belgium.

In a letter from Bandol, 3 November 1968, Sassi gives another invocation, which is also used in groups of the WTT: “Dear Friend, here is the PLANETARY INVOCATION, which you have asked for and which we recite every day:

“With DARJEELING and all the Sons of ASIA,
With TOKYO and all the Japanese Associates,
With LUXOR and all our African Brothers,
With GENEVA and all the citizens of EUROPE and of RUSSIA,
With LONDON and all our British brothers,
With NEW YORK and all our Friends of America,
We bow down in homage and adoration
To the mighty Hierarchy, the inner Government of the world,
And to its very exquisite jewel, the Star of the Sea, the WORLD MOTHER.”

Beginning of 1971, Albert Sassi is back to India. In spite of his bad health, he goes first to the Nilagiris and then visits Master EK in Visakhapatnam:

“We were in haste to visit the community of Krishnamacharya, a spiritual community, which is a model of the kind. Everywhere mutual help. No TITLE for any director. Five homeopathic hospitals and several private schools totally at the costs of the promoters, where the teachers have no salary but offer freely their help. The Father of Krishnamacharya is a Grand Seer, and a grand Saint. He has 73 years. An admirable monograph has been published at the occasion of his anniversary. After six weeks of convalescence, I haven’t yet re-found my forces. We leave, though I am still very weak.”

His last letter he writes from Calcutta, on 24 February 1971, on the way to Katmandu, describing his visit in Visakhapatnam:

“And now we arrive at our Major Experience of our stay in India, with the visit of the group, the team of workers constituted by our Friend, the Dr. Krishnamacharya.
This experience has surpassed our expectation. This is an spiritual event of great importance for the work of the New Age.
I will describe it in detail in a long message, which I will edit at my return. The day of our arrival, the 19th, Krishnamacharya awaited us at the airport. He drove us to a magnificent Indian home of great standing, the apartment of the greatest magnate of the place. The architecture of the Indian house is very beautiful, very artistic. We have been treated as great friends of the family.
The evening in front of 350 men, women and children connected to the United Lodges of the Indian Theosophical Society, I spoke during 45 minutes and Krishnamacharya has commented in Telugu during 1 ½ h. With the prayers, this was 3 hours of session! Nobody moved! 700 brilliant eyes looking at you, like suns of fire!
Here under these circumstances, you speak always with inspiration. I have had the power to go to the limit. The next day, at 10.30h, I spoke in front of a chosen group. The evening at 6.30 pm, I spoke in the garden. I could transmit the essential ideas of my last exposés.
It is one of the only groups on the planet which, according to my opinion, plays the role of the Fusion East-West as it is understood by the Instructor, with the acceptance of the teaching of MAITREYA, this makes all the difference.
So tomorrow at Katmandu, with the grace of God and if God wants it!
Sincerely yours A. Sassi.”

Seriously sick, he returns from Katmandu to Geneva and does not recover. On 28 March 1971, he passes over to the subtle realms.

In the book “Spiritual Fusion of East and West”, Dr. Parvathi Kumar writes:

“Responding to the call of Albert Sassi, Master E.K. made his first tour to the West in April, 1972. Even by the time Master E.K. responded to the call of Albert Sassi, the latter departed from the physical. Master E.K. therefore, had to work with the followers of faith left behind by Albert Sassi, who were mostly aged.”

The encounter between Albert Sassi and Master EK opened the doors for the unfoldment of the wisdom teachings of the World Teacher Trust in the West.

P.S. 1: 14 November 2021: The text on “The Feminine Hierarchy” was transmitted by Master EK at Masters’ Garden (Kotagiri, India) in the night from 13th to 14th July 1965, in the company of E. Warnon and A. Sassi. For futher information, you might contact the WTT-Global.

P.S. 2: This article focuses on Albert Sassi and his relation to Master EK. During my research I came to understand more about Elisabeth Warnon, the woman who assisted Albert Sassi in his work and who helped bringing the teachings of Master EK to the West. See here a book transcribed/received by her, in French.

Speaking and Being Silent

Sunday, August 31st, 2014

Some days ago, I met some friends. I knew that some of them like to talk extensively, and I asked myself how I wanted to deal with it. I remembered Sri Kumar once telling how Master EK in such situations withdrew inside and kept a mental cut-off until the discoursing was over.

I decided to use the situation for learning and to observe my reactions on the impact of these friends. At least up to a certain degree, and then maybe silently slip away.

In the past, I was impressed and often carried away by articulate persons with a strong mental impregnated with a lot of wisdom concepts and I felt some inferiority. I knew it was a weak point of myself, and with the time I noticed that such eloquence is like a hot air blower. The concepts presented in quick sequences leave no impact; they feel like straw without grains.

The friends were well versed in theosophical thoughts, with a love for power politics and conspiracy theories. As expected, the dialogues were intense. At the beginning, I followed the content. Inwardly, I had to smile noticing that in the presence of someone who is a very strong talker, the less strong ones got silenced, at least for a while. The less talkative persons don’t step in at all.

At the beginning, I followed the content; with the time I became more and more an observer. At some occasions, I slipped away to help the lady of the house in the kitchen.

I noticed that monologic discoursing gets carried away by a gush of ideas. They don’t notice whether their talk is of interest for the others or what they think and particularly, what is being unsaid.

I tried to observe when the talk was saturated by own experiences, and what is “voicing opinions” or “teaching one’s beliefs”. The experience part is much more vivid and impressive. However, I found that a fuelling energy in most sequences was the indignation about manipulations of the power mongers, of big money and pharma, about the machinations against alternative innovative inventors… In a way, the fire is encircling the attention but leaves an empty feeling and disorientation, and it sucks your energy – you get depleted.

Under the surface of such talks, I noticed hidden wounds of the individual biographies which shone forth through small remarks. The fight against “the darkness” is nourished by unresolved business inside. Caroline Myss speaks of “woundology”. The urge to focus on and fight against the outer shadows is resulting from your inner wounds and dark spots. I have intensely experienced it the last years and only come out of it through prolonged meditative and therapeutic work with myself.

One’s own shadows are difficult to notice and understand. My friends are decennies on the spiritual path but the fascination for the “projection play” was still intense. I had experienced myself that it needed profound crises and pain to change the habit of projecting the problems out into the world. Fighting against darkness increases fighting; only increasing the inner light creates a lighted sphere.

I later spoke with my wife how one could help others understand their projections. She said, “The pressure of suffering needs to be high enough. Suffering is easier than learning. Mostly, they don’t want to wake up.” Even many people doing spiritual practices or studying wisdom teachings seem to have great difficulties to realize their own part and predisposition while criticising what they perceive as wrong in others or the society. The yearning for salvation towards a guru, a theology or cosmic interventions is also mostly nourished by a longing that one’s own pain might end.

Sometimes, mindful listening to the other might help and, where possible, guiding the conversation from “talking about the world” to “what does it do to you?”, and recognizing the hidden pain. It is a slow process and best without expectations. When the wounds are cleared, healing can come from the inner.

An Inspiring Life – A Small Remembrance on the Occasion of Master EKs Birthday

Sunday, August 10th, 2014

Tomorrow is Master EK’s birthday. He was born on 11 August 1926.

Although I didn’t meet him physically, Master EK (Dr. Ekkirala Krishnamacharya) had a profound impact on my life. His teachings and his way of living impressed me very much. I first heard about him in 1981 but it took long years to “get caught” by his magnetism. His biography “Master E.K. – The New Age Teacher” is an inspiring reading and gives a good insight into his life.

Now there is a series of 6 DVDs relating to the Yoga of Master CVV (coming soon on YouTube); the second part has been published recently, dealing with the early years of Master EK’s life.

Here are a few words from a talk of Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar (Master KPK) given on Master EKs birthday in 2011:

“It is not easy to understand a Master. We just make some conclusions about him without knowing anything about him. We consider him someone similar to us. He appears so but he is not. He appears to anyone according to their own belief and though. What a Master can do in this creation, even the cosmic intelligences cannot. His work is much greater. That is why there are some disciples who fulfilled themselves just by deeply following a Master and not even looking for the Lord.

A Master gives his disciple all freedom to move as he likes but keeps a constant check on him to protect him due to his compassion towards his disciple. Generally the relationship between the Master and disciple goes on for lives and lives and does not end with just one life.

Master EK is one such grand Master who has come down to help us all in the path. He is such a grand light but he just lived a simple life. He said “I believe in simplicity and not in publicity.” His sight is a great vision. He used to appear as if he did not see us but just by seeing anyone for a moment, he could understand the complete stature of the other person from his past to present. He just behaves as an image to us. If we greet him, he greets us; if we talk to him, he talks to us, if we are arrogant towards him, he would be very arrogant and so on. So there is nothing we can understand of him. It is even useless to even try to understand him.”

It is good to remember a Master and his qualities on his birthday – and it is uplifting to us.

“Normcore” and “Normal Temperament”: Breathtakingly Inconspicuous

Friday, July 11th, 2014

A few days ago I read an article about the German national team at the World Cup in Brazil – not about their sport performance, which I followed only vaguely, but their fashion.

The article remarked that though the German team never had much sympathy in Switzerland the trendy soccer viewer should notice that the Germans are trend-setters:

Unlike all players of other teams who wear tattoos, long hair, beards or use other ways “to make a difference”, the German team is “breathtakingly inconspicuous”. Even in their physique they are no muscle-men. He wrote that he took “normcore” as a media hype but that this team displays a “hardcore normal existence” – demonstrating that even no special hairstyle is needed to win a match.

fifa_bird_cup
Not just normcore – the international football birds of the “Fifa Bird Cup” 2014 on a garage door at the Lake Lucerne

I had to think of what Master CVV teaches about “normal temperament” as a fundamental attitude required in spiritual life. Sri Kumar explains it:

“Do not live above the ground. Be practical and be normal. Have no anxiety in you that others should recognise that you are spiritual. Make no efforts to enable others to understand that you are spiritual. As far as possible, keep a veil. As far as your spiritual understanding is concerned transact with the other person as a normal human being. Always keep the spiritual understanding in the background. Do not use too many spiritual terms in your anxiety to make others know that you are also spiritual. If possible, hide it. Wait to understand the other person, speak to him in the same language and terms that he speaks. Don’t use terms which he does not use. … You carry your understanding in you and then according to the others’ understanding you transact with him on that plane. Keep the higher understanding in you. Don’t vomit your higher understanding. At all levels meet the understanding of the other man.”

So let’s retain normal temperament in all events of life.

“How Can We Better Work Together as a Group?”

Monday, July 7th, 2014

Last Wednesday I was at a meeting of Sri Kumar with members of the Swiss WTT group in Hergiswil (I met him there already on 6 June) . It was the end of his 57th tour to the West and he had invited us for a question-answer exchange; 10 persons could come.

With his smile he gave us a warm welcome and remarked that there is no need to sit in a school-like manner. Then he presented his wife, his son and his nephew to the group, who were accompanying him on the tour.

I took the occasion to ask the first question: “How can we better work together as a group?” – and here is what he answered – clear and inspiring as always:

“For a group to be together there has to be a common work. Common work has to be found between the members of the group, what a work can be done, it should serve the group. This should be found. This develops group consciousness. Man normally tends to be individualistic, some part of him can be individualistic and a major part has to be groupal. This develops the personality. When we relate to the group there is an exchange of energies in the group and therefore the individualisation; the process of individualisation takes to a different dimension of group. While staying individualistic the group consciousness is also developed. By this, there is the exchange of groupal energies and the related joy.

When we are alone at home is one thing and when we are in a group is another thing. Normally everyone is locked in oneself. If the exchange is not made one crystallizes in oneself. In a group by exchange the one learns from the other. By nature when we are alone we tend to be individualistic; we cannot adapt to the surroundings. For the personality to develop it is important to adjust. Therefore man is in a community. You cannot exchange with the entire society but people who have the same ideas can come together and do something for the community. For that the wisdom says, community living, group living, community meals and prayers, community work, that is how community is formed to experience group consciousness.

In a group there is sharing of energy. Slowly working with the energies makes a group a family. A family is a group where there is a free flow of energy. Today the family is in a danger. The individualisation is causing walls between the members. More and more one gets individualised. One gets disconnected with all the surrounding life energies. The consciousness that we are is universal. Universal consciousness expresses individually, like one electricity expresses as so many lights. Consciousness always looks for unity and not separativity. A natural group like a family is today no more able to work as a group; this leads to an excessive individualism which is contrary to the nature of consciousness.

Consciousness is by nature staying united. Excessive individualisation leads to excessive mind. Even if there is someone sitting next to you there is no relation to him. In nature, it is a family system; the flowers live together as a bunch of flowers and not as single flowers. A bunch of flowers is more beautiful than individual flowers. There is strength in being together. Today more and more is tending to be intellectual and individual; it is difficult to tolerate another person next to him and less to exchange with him. Today people feel the company of a cat, a dog or a rat better than a man next to them. That is a demonstration of intolerance towards co-human beings. The person withdraws, and it forms a prison towards the consciousness he really is. Therefore there is a suffering in individualism. The wisdom teachings instruct from individuality to personality and from personality to group consciousness, from group consciousness to universal consciousness. The contrary is a process of condensation; everything becomes very strict in life. Nature has the tendency to reverse the inversion. It is like a flower that unfolds, it doesn’t show its beauty when it is closed.

We look at a bud of a flower and wait for it to unfold. Likewise each one of us can unfold like a flower with 8 layers of petals. Then the potential for real human being is realised. The reversing process of excessive individualism for this group living is given. We try to bring together our strength so that we can do common work – the common work, common study, common prayer, common eating, common travel. When these things periodically happen, this would release a person from constriction. In the beginning of 20th century especially to the west the concept of group work has been imparted by teachers of wisdom.

Before the 2 world wars of 20th century, there was a good family system, even in the European and American countries. By industrialisation there has been a change in the way of life, leading to individuals becoming more a system than the group. This has led to excessive individualism. The consequence of individualism is strong individual viewpoints – what I think is right. There is no way to accommodate another viewpoint. When one lives continuously in one pattern he cannot see other viewpoints. It tends to make intolerant towards other viewpoints. It reduced the vision to a single viewpoint. And one tries to impose one’s viewpoint on the other.

We see that each one of us has a different viewpoint as per the food, the weather, the life events. To some less salt is tasty, for others more salt. That both possibilities are there is not realised. Sun is good for some, for others it is good when it is clouded. To be able to see from every viewpoint leads one to vision. To stand by one’s viewpoints leads to excessive individualism and he cannot see the beauty of nature.

What is comfort? There are different views, also what is tasty, what weather is good – in everything there are different views. To be able to accommodate the different views and develop a vision, that is group consciousness. When we group together, it is different from personalities grouping together. We should see the difference as complementary but not as disagreement. That is where frequent meetings and doing something together is a way to liberate oneself. If you are just individuals – I do my own breakfast, I drive my car to my work, I see just my work and am not related to people around; I take my own meals and don’t participate in the meals with others and then I drive again home, I cook and eat and watch TV – all alone. When no life is shared the beauty of human potential is not shared.

The rose bud can unfold by being in relation to others. The whole life in its beauty is to see it in relation. The more you are related to the surroundings, beginning with the humans, the energy flows out and you keep opening. If you only take the energy inside, even by prayers, you remain a closed bud. When you observe yourself while traveling – there are many people but no one relates to the other. This way we build walls between each other and restrict substantially our potential of experiencing life. Where there is communication there is the joy of unfoldment.”

The other questions were about “Music”, “Dealing with Crises”, “Working with plants / a plant mantra”, “Burnout / colours for healing”. As usual, I had my notebook with me and took notes of the interesting answers – otherwise the words seem to quickly vanish. Of course, they were recorded but normally I don’t take the time for listening to it.

After the exchanges we had a 30 minutes meditation, starting with 7 times OM and ending with OM Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi. We then had a joyful spaghetti dinner together and afterwards Sri Kumar said good-bye by shaking hands to each one.

While driving home 1.5 hs, some of his replies kept lingering in my mind.

En Route to Belgium and Paris: A Meeting of Solar and Spiritual Astrology of East and West

Friday, July 4th, 2014

After the solstice seminar in Billerbeck, Germany, I joint members of the Belgian WTT-group for the trip to Belgium and Paris. A beautiful summer-day ride brought us to Corroy-le-Grand, where most of the members of the group are living together in several houses on the countryside. I have been there a number of times before, I love the cordiality of the group. On their compound, they have since a few years the Centre Caducée, a therapy centre of a doctor and his wife. I slept in one of the rooms, where some welcome-flowers were at a little table. On the other side of the therapy building they had arranged a room for the group meditations. It looked to me like a chapel with a beautiful triangular mirror at the gable. A bit later, I observed Elise decorating the little altar with a careful hand:

A little later, a quarter to 9 pm, the group with Sri Kumar arrived, and there was a warm welcome. We gathered in the house, and while some of the ladies were doing the final preparations for dinner, we sat together with Sri Kumar in the living room. His conversations, always accompanied with a light smile, are very sprightly. After a spaghetti dinner we had a short night before we assembled around 5.45 for the morning meditation. And after breakfast we sat out for the tour to Paris.

A fast highway ride brought us to Paris – and we were thrilled when we saw the Seine River with the Eiffel Tower appearing. Our hotel was just a kilometer away.

After a little noon pause in the hotel Günter and I started a bit earlier than the others for the seminar place. Günter had a larger map of the metro stations from an earlier visit to Paris, and he showed me a metro station near the Eiffel Tower which wasn’t on the small map Martine had given. We went over the Champs de Mars but didn’t find the station. So we crossed below the Eiffel Tower to another station where we saw that it would be better to continue walking to the next one… There we asked at the information desk – Günter’s map was too old, the metro was no longer working. Finally we set out to our underground trip through Paris. At one change we bumped into the group of the other members who had started later … the first Paris adventure.

The two “Meeting of Solar and Spiritual Astrology of East and West” with Master Kumar were at a centre of the Brahma Kumaris – a hall with an entrance from a beautiful small garden. About 90 persons had gathered for the first evening. We had to wait 45 minutes for the arrival of Sri Kumar – his taxi got stuck in a traffic jam. (I had a nice talk with an elderly lady sitting next to me….) Then the conference started. Two well-known French astrologers, Fanchon Pradalier-Roy and Samuel Djian-Gutenberg gave interesting inputs to the topics “Astrology as the science of the Soul”, “What can Astrology give to the World in this time of crisis of planetary evolution?” “Which is the place of astrology in the New Age?” During the pause I was at a table where we displayed some books, leaflets and Lunar Messengers and had some short exchanges with interested visitors.

Then came the talk of Master Kumar – a great talk. The same sequence repeated the next day but whereas the two French astrologers gave once more the talk they had given the day before (and the visitors were told just to come for one evening), Sri Kumar continued and his inspiring talk became deeper and deeper. Below the picture you find a short extract of my notes from the second lecture.

The speakers and organisers

“It is a great opportunity to be in Paris. Paris is a global city. It is built in tune with the 7th ray energy. You see all masonic symbols on the structures of this city and many astrological symbols. Most of the old buildings have the masonic wisdom. It is well supported by the river which flows north-west. What is flowing towards the north or east are considered energies towards the spirit. Paris is the capital city of France and represents its incarnation in terms of energies.

The Eiffel Tower is a great symbol of spirituality. I may or may not but I got up every time up. 7 times it has happened. The Eiffel Tower is a great symbol of the spinal column. It has 4 pillars on the 4 directions. They represent the 4 petals of the Muladhara and from there is the upward movement structure up to Ajna where there is the headlight. And that light in the night shines forth in the night all over the city. The overviewing aspect of the human is in his Ajna centre. We also call it the throne of man. There are 2 thrones, one is in the heart and one is at the Ajna. The centre in heart is considered as the Lion’s throne, and when it is in the Ajna… When we ascend to the heart we are called Yogis and when at the Ajna we are called Raja Yogis. This means a king of Yogis. That is the goal set for humans.

Thereafter to related to the extra-terrestrial and get into the higher systems and for the higher system to get into us there is the Sahasrara, the 1000 petaled lotus. If we wish to get into the 1000 petaled lotus, we must no more relate to the world. This is Samadhi. This aspect is not yet built on the Eiffel tower. Otherwise it would get into another dimension. That is the goal set in 1889. It is a goal set for France in 1889 that the French raise in their awareness from solar plexus to Ajna. And the first step is to move to the heart and then to the Ajna. When you move up there is a middle level. The first lift takes you to the heart. The second lift takes you to a long journey via the throat to the Ajna. Staying there, closing your eyes and meditating gives the blessing. When he returns he feels the highness when he returns. Up there you are much in the light, and below there is shadow. Every day, thousands move up and come down but if you do it as a pilgrimage, it would have a different impact on all of us. Every great city is not to be seen as a tourist but as a pilgrim. The approach is as a pilgrim and for this the life has to be organised as a pilgrimage.”

The next morning our group went to the Eiffel Tower. There we met Thot and his friends who had organised the conferences. It was not possible to get group tickets any-more but we got a bunch of individual tickets. And then went up…

Afterwards the group went for a boat ride on the Seine River and had some nice inside into the history and present times of Paris.

The second day the group visited the Louvre Palace with the famous glass pyramid. I had to leave a little earlier to catch the train to Switzerland around noon time. The others had some more sightseeing and went to the Arc de Triomphe before returning to Belgium for the continuation of the tour to Hamburg.

A Summer Solstice Seminar

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014

From 20 – 23 June, I was at the summer solstice seminar with Sri Kumar and his wife Krishna Kumari in Billerbeck, Germany. About 160 people from different countries of Europe and the USA had come to this meeting to celebrate the jubilee of 30 years WTT Germany. The group living was in a huge, beautiful hotel in the countryside surrounded by forests and meadows. The topic of the seminar was “Count St. Germain and his Teachings”; the talks were also about the spiritual importance of solstice time and the meaning of marriage.

Huge images were projected onto the walls on 3 sides of the hall. A picture of Count St Germain at the backside of the hall.

Solstice day morning when I came down from my room for morning meditation I saw through the trees the glow of the approaching sunrise. So I rushed outside and went some hundred meters along the road: a gorgeous silent spectacles with now other viewers around was about to present itself: summer solstice sunrise:

I just came back in time for the morning meditation. The seminar was very inspiring. Sri Kumar spoke among others about the preparations in a previous of the one who later became the Count of St. Germain, where he turned to a school a magic, came on the wrong path. He was transformed by encountering Krishna in a ritual he performed in order to subdue Krishna. Part of the story was known to me from the book of Master EK, “Music of the Soul” (I love this book!) but many details were revealed for the first time about the identity of Munda Kaushika. As usual, I have taken of the seminar; if you are interested, you might contact me. Here comes an extract of a lecture on summer solstice:

“Sun enters the house of Moon and this we call the month of Cancer. As he enters, Moon is your personality. Moon in Cancer, when you make an entry as Sun, you meet your personality. Moon carries the sum and essence of your past abilities and limitations. In each one of us there are certain limitations and abilities. All our abilities keep with the personality. You also bring along with you the energy of Jupiter, the teacher. When you bring along with you the Teacher, the Teacher and you together would make an excellent triangle with your personality. Then your personality would eventually and even willingly fall into your plan and the plan of your Teacher. Therefore Jupiter is said to be exalted in Cancer. This is known to many, but why is it so? Why Jupiter is exalted in Cancer?

He is the teacher and he is needed much more when we meet our personality when entering into form. Our personality takes over or even overtakes us. We behave in a particular way, when we enter into nature. We want to speak more, we don’t want to create conflicts, we want to be cordial and invite all to the group life but are not so cordial as you should be – why? Because the personality is the dominating fact. Each one is dominated by the lady in him. This domination creates more and more conflicts. It is not the lady outside but inside. The soul and the personality are the 2, man and wife. It is not set in harmony. That is what you prepared over incarnations. That is why astrology says, Moon is your past. Whatever you have done in the past, you bring it along and it is wide open to you and your nature. Over incarnations out of ignorant behaviour, we have developed a troublesome personality. It is strong. We need to associate with the strongest one, the one who can modulate and set in order any kind of energy. Any kind of energy can be regulated by Jupiter, this is, with a teacher of wisdom. When this association tends to be continuous, the energy of the teacher flows to you and what you cannot handle by yourself you are enabled by the association with the teacher. The energy of the teacher reinforces you to handle the personality; the personality cooperates with you in direct proportion with your cooperation with the teacher.

When we come to Cancer we inevitably think of the Teacher. Cancer means the association with the Teacher; that is the effort we have to do. The more you associate with the teacher the more he is helping to set the personality right. That is why in the Vedic system the month of Cancer is said to be the month of the teacher and the full moon Guru Purnima, the full moon of the Teacher. All aspirants refresh their cooperation with the Teacher. The energy of the Teacher is established with you and the angles of the triangles are set right. The two angles become 60 degrees when the 3rd angle is 60 degrees.

In India the Teacher is much more than the God himself for he is verily God in the form of the Teacher available to you through Hierarchy. Each one of us is a Sun as soul, and the Moon we carry is the sum total of the past experiences. Ascendant is the program for this life. No one needs to tell us what our personality is; we look inside and see our disabilities and transform them into abilities with the help of the Teacher. You cannot relate to a Teacher if you don’t relate to the teachings of the Teacher.”

Other highlights besides the talks of Sri Kumar were the celebration of the 30th anniversary of WTT Germany, a concert of eastern and western musicians, a fire ritual and the ceremony of the marriage of Jannes and Paula. I couldn’t take pictures of all the events since the battery of my camera broke down and I had no charger. But here are some more impressions.

And besides the many parts of the program I enjoyed very much the encounters with friends, the talks and the walks through the beautiful countryside – a very intense time full of light and joy.

An Incident about Spirituality and Seriousness

Sunday, June 15th, 2014

Last week during the meeting with Sri Kumar and the WTT Executive Board, there was a short sequence of conversation which this morning came again to my mind:

I told Sri Kumar that I had several Skype and email exchanges with a doctor who is very much interested in meeting him during Sri Kumar’s tour to Europe. I said, “He is also engaged in the (XX) School and very seriously committed to the spiritual path.”

Sri Kumar replied, “Yes, there are many students of this school very serious with spirituality and I have first to get them away from their seriousness. Without joyfulness, not much can be done on the path.” And he looked at me with his soft, smiling glance.

Dealing with Organisational Matters and a Leisurely Walk

Friday, June 6th, 2014

Like other organisations, the WTT also has an organisational structure. And since the seat of WTT-Global is in Switzerland and it is an association, we also have an Executive Board and General Assemblies… This sounds much like paper, paragraphs and paraphernalia. That’s true but it also has a fascinating part of contacts and cooperation.

Two days ago, Sri Kumar arrived in Switzerland for the beginning of this year’s tour to Europe. And yesterday we had our Executive Board meeting with him, to review what has been going on during the last year and to prepare the General Assembly – it will be in two weeks in Germany. I love these meetings; they are always a good occasion to observe Sri Kumar how he deals with organisational matters, and in this he has been a great role model for me – leisurely, clear, inspiring and constructive.

We discussed the Annual Report and the topics of the General Assembly. And we spoke about the May Call Day celebrations; I told Sri Kumar of our meeting at the Paracelsus centre. He was very positive about it and proposed that we should do there regular celebrations at the cardinal points of the year, the solstices and equinoxes. I will see with some group members how this can be put into practice.

After the evening meditation all of us went for a little walk at a beautiful way along Lake Lucerne. And the evening ended with a tomato soup + rice dinner with Indian chutney 🙂 before I returned home again.
