Over the last six months deep inner and outer processes had been going on, the content side of which are not “bloggable”. On the energetic side it was a time of a multi-dimensional crisis, where the central theme was encountering experiences of refusing and being refused. During the process, while trying to observe and understand it, I came into contact with analogous situations in other persons, where pain was linked with inner blockages through experiences of refusal or non-acceptance. It seems that the experience of refusal creates inner dams, wounds, that normally you don’t dare to touch. You do inner “workarounds”, expressing in subtle fears and, on the outer side, behavioural imbalances.

The relations to other people reflect the imbalances, and it seems you attract “karmic pattern states” by way of resonance. The strange thing I observed is that this is mostly accompanied by veils in the mind, unclarities and blind spots. You try not to see the wounds inside, not to touch the “dark side of the moon”. But you put up defence walls and argumentative justifications, stings which hurt others. You have been harmed, and now you harm others with your harsh words and reactions – often below conscious perception of what kind of harm you are causing.

In the process of opening to the pain I had a “catalyst” experience of love triggered by encounters, breaking up the shells of rejection. The related pain structures were shaking to the core of individual existence, reflecting on the outer in witnessing turbulences.

An image – not a symbol, but an energetic experience – of an unfolding lotus accompanied me: The wisdom teachings describe the 12-petaled egoic lotus, the energetic structure of our “I Am”.  The lotus consists of 4 layers of 3 petals each, at the centre of which there is a radiant spot of light, the core of our “I Am”. The petals are veiling the core, as long as the unfoldment hasn’t yet taken place. Like with the flowering of a lotus, the outer petals open first, and later the inner ones. The more the petals are closed, the more the energy flowing in through the “I Am”-core is being blocked by subtle dams, being coloured and deformed. Most people are not aware that these “block structures” are the causes of behavioural imbalances and instabilities on the more outer sides.

It seems the petals get opened when love breaks a way through the dams of the inner blockages. By consciously going into the experience of the deep pain without trying to  make anything seem better than it is or hiding so-called “negative” emotions, you get in touch with the hidden sides, and you can integrate them consciously. The awareness touches and releases them.

In a seminar on “Agni” (1991) our spiritual teacher Dr. Parvathi Kumar described this egoic lotus with the following words (unpublished, extracts):

“You have for instance this light here. It also has five petals representing the mind. Suppose, we have these five petals made up of iron. And they close further. Even if there is light inside, there is no chance of feeling the light. Suppose, we have these petals made up of transparent glass, then the light shines forth better through the petals. So, with what material these petals are made decides what kind of illumination we carry. The illumination or lack of illumination depends upon the encasing, but not upon the light within. If the encasing is transparent, the light shines forth. And if the encasing is very gross and very thick with material, the light remains very much in the same vibration, but is not useful for being spread. But nevertheless, the light remains. …

Now let us understand how these nine petals gradually unfold. You must have all seen the beautiful twelve petaled-lotus which is propagated by the Arcane School. If we have a poster like that, it is useful to explain instead of my drawing a lotus of nine petals, because it is a beautiful representation.

Understand that the nine petals are the three triangles. Three petals make one layer. You can visualize the lotus as it is distributed by Arcane School. You would see three most exterior petals, and then, there is another triangle of three petals interior to the first one. The first triangle has three petals, over which the second triangle of three petals is imposed. Over that, there is another triangle of three petals. These are the nine petals of the three triangles. Over that, there is the fourth triangle of three petals. And in the centre of it, there is the bud. It is a small ball-like appearance. So, each triangular layer of petals carries energies relating to each kingdom.

Let us take one triangle for example. One petal is called the petal of love, and the 2nd petal is the petal of sacrifice and the third petal is the petal of knowledge. Like this, there are three triangles superimposed one over the other. Those are the nine petals of the Egoic Lotus, and each triangle has its own understanding of love, sacrifice and knowledge….

Where from the light is emitting? From the centre of the egoic lotus, and that is what the Master calls ‘the jewel of the lotus’. It is called ‘the gem of the lotus’ which shines forth. We have to know that the gem is not a physical gem over there. It is a gem-like formation of the waves of light. That means the light waves in a gem-like form, and hence it can pierce through any matter. And then the formation through light waves of the gem has its own source again. Who has kept it there? Who has prepared this light inside? Did you ever imagine that it is given by some other functioning? If we say that in the egoic lotus, in the centre of the lotus, there is a brilliant gem, we take it for granted. But who has prepared it and how it has come to stay in the centre of the lotus? It is not like the light in this lotus-like lamp. It is objectively kept here. The light in the heart lotus is different. It stamps from a root. It is a glow which is within the stalk of this form. Suppose, we keep a very powerful tube-light inside this tube, and the tube is not projecting beyond this stalk. It goes only up to this point, but it is brilliantly glowing inside. Then, if you see in the centre of the lotus, you find that there is some brilliant light in the hole. It is not some kind of settlement of light on the periphery of the hole, it is very useful that we have this instrument here to explain.

Like that, from a source, there is the focusing of light through the centre of the egoic lotus. That is what is appearing as the triangular flame through the three petals. So, that is what is described in the scriptures as ‘the electrical blue light’. (Now follow some Sanskrit words.) It says: “In the centre of the flame, there is a rice-grain-like formation of electric blue light. And on the top of the rice grain, there is such minutest spot-light which is so brilliant that, if we see, our eyes will grow blind. And it is that which is called ‘the three-fold fire’, which manifests as fire by friction, solar fire and as the electric fire.”

In a previous blog-post I mentioned our visit to a sweets-shop in Hyderabad. It made me think of what sweets stand for. Here in the West they are surrounded by an aura of attraction, seduction, sensual pleasure – and their shadows: calories, and kilograms, bad conscience and the scales as judges of our eating discipline, and the dentist as the profiteer of the caries development. For many, sweets are also surrogates of love and affection.

In the East these sides of sweets are also known, but we also encountered them in another form – Prasad, given after a ritual, as a blessing of the Divine, a visual expression of the invisible flow of divine love. It depends on the awareness whether we eat the same sweet substance for our own sensual pleasure or we take it in the spirit of communion, feeling that we are part of the greater whole, of sweet experience of the synthesis of life.

Today I saw the presentation of an ITC networking meeting in two weeks ago in Berne, and one presentation started with the following lines, which contain a deep truth:

As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don’t know
We don’t know.

When you observe the subtle changes in the qualities of time, from day to day, you note a pulsating rhythm with manyfold vibrations in the different strata of life, showing up as events. At the moment we witness turbulences in the world of finances and power, shaking the value system. Billions, trillions of dollars seem to disappear into nothingness (see the last post). The waves of these phenomena are generated from deep-down causes of greed and, more subtle, of selfishness. And they cause virulent repercussions in the foam of the media, and more concrete in the consumption patterns, in the job situation of many people.

Besides these waves of the “financial tsunami” there are many other strata of life touching you – the general conditions of living, the surroundings of nature, the family situation… In our lives we feel the body going through processes of change and thus the physical vehicle for our expression in life changes. When you look inside, you feel inner reactions of feelings, fears of change or expectations.

And more deeply there are the innermost foundations upon which our life is built – it is not the cell structure or the atoms, bu the foundations of existence, That, which I AM. In the daily stream of events this gets easily forgotten, but we are anchored in it. And while the outer waves might go high, I feel that the rhythm of daily meditation and alignment gives a stable stand.

It seems that more storm clouds are on the horizon of time, the signs for the next years are full of thunder and lightning. Also from the energertic point described in spiritual astrology, there are indications of deep transformations ahead. All the more it is important to stay firmly grounded, rooted to the ground. A well-rooted tree easily stands a storm, especially when it stands together with others.

The rhythm of time is a dynamic dance of creation.

A few days ago a friend from Cameroun wrote to me (in French) about the daily morning and evening meditation / prayer times: “It’s strange to structure one’s life around two rendezvous with a 12 hour interval. I find this very structuring, and you? …”

I answered him: “Yes, it creates a structure, a resonance, a vibration. For me it is like taking a moment of a deep breath in this time of rendezvous with the silence, the soul. The daily rotating calms down. It is not a burden, but very refreshing, filling me with energy…”

The daily rendezvous with silence, a time to take a rest

Last week in a yoga group of my wife a friend, a muslim woman, said it is now Ramadan, but that she doesn’t follow the fasting. She feels too weak and gets dizzy when trying to fast. My wife said to her, “You certainly also get into Paradise without fasting.” The friend answered, she isn’t sure about that. A feeling of inadequacy caused by non-compliance to religious rules…

There are many such strong thought forms, not only created in the name of God and right behaviour. Mostly we adopt them unconsciously and let ourselves get conditioned by them. Trying to break out of the boundaries of tradition or concepts just creates new mental cages. Thoughts so easily get crystallised.

Yesterday evening in a meditation & study group we read the following passage of the book on Saraswathi by Dr. K. P. Kumar, which very aptly describes the situation:

“Normally we are caught in our own idea of work. Repeated functioning causes certain crystallization. We lose flexibility. We become rigid. Any changed situation is painful because it is not in tune with our crystallised pattern. We try to advocate only the pattern we know and insist on it. We resist other patterns and reject them. This is arising out of our habit-forming nature. We form a habit and we cannot come out of it….

This is the major problem of the modern man, we crystallize our patterns, insist on them, reject and even ridicule other patterns. In effect we are slaves of patterns developed by us. These patterns condition us, while they also enable us to anchor well, but we should not anchor knee deep or neck deep so that we cannot come out of it.

Our habit with the heating system in winter, cooling system in summer, make us weak inherently. Our habit of sitting in chairs disable us to squat. Eating with spoon and forks disable us to eat with hands.
Likewise, our habit binds us to a name and a form of God and also a mode of worship. We deny other names, other modes, other disciplines. Is this not the limitation that is sweeping humanity, causing bloodshed, discord, hate, and sustained enmity?

It is good to develop a rhythm and the related habit. But it is also equally recommended that we retain the ability to adopt to changing situations. Retain this freedom. Keep some space. Do not suffocate.”

Two weeks ago we were in Engelberg at a seminar. The meaning of Engelberg is Mountain of Angels, and throughout the village you could see angel sculptures like an invasion of beings from another sphere. The sculptures of the exposition were basically the same polyacrylic forms decorated in different ways – and thus reflecting different attitudes towards the sublime:

Some of the figures were ridiculising the idea of angels, some were playfully using them as decorations, some reflected a spark of the underlying mystery. A friend of mine sent me a photo CD with some of these angels – a good study, not so much about angels but more about man or the artist’s attitude. The angels are for sale… The titles under the pictures are given by me:

The Angel of a “beautiful apartment / nice dress dream” – instead of striving to the lofty spheres

The Angel of Time – reminding us of the good use of every moment for upliftment. It is also Chronos-Saturn, the Lord or Time, in green, related to the 3rd ray of Active Intelligence.

The Angel of Broken Mirrors – symbolic of broken dreams or of the many reflections of the One light in the dense spheres of the gross material world.

Today my wife and I had a talk on how difficult it sometimes is not to be able to tell a person what one would like to tell him or her. When the person is not ready to listen or doesn’t have an open mind, you come upon an invisible wall, even if there is a cordial relation. Often it is the question of an over-active mind: People are busy with their thoughts and concepts, which keep them tied down into a certain direction. The narrowed focus is shutting them off from other viewpoints, which might bring in a larger perspective.

In spiritual matters I observe this very often: It takes so long, often years, for a right and deep understanding to grow. People are straying at the periphery, not coming to the center, the essence of their being or the path. For many it is very difficult to get into a regular practice, and it seems it is even more difficult to pick up some selfless service activity – not just some goodwill activity, but an intelligent activity done with responsibility over a long time, in cooperation in a team. There are so many obstacles on the way – other interests, the so-called “having no time”-syndrome, which mostly is a missing focus in life. In spirituality there are many who consent, but only few who apply.

At the seminar on the occasion of 25 years of WTT-Global of last week Dr. Kumar mentioned that Master EK made long 4 tours from India to the West in the 70ies (1972-1977) without getting any right contacts. People seemed not to be open enough to assimilate the teachings he wanted to give. He waited 4 more years before taking up again his tours to the West in 1981, and then slowly he met people with whom the work could start.

At the jubilee celebration a book was published, where Dr. Kumar’s (Master KPK) work of group-building over 27 years was outlined. There was a section with the titles of all his lectures – several hundred ! – he gave on most different topics all over the globe during nearly 50 international tours. It gave me a frisson to see the tremendous work and how slowly and steadily it proceeded. It is not a big and quick foam, but a silent, focused persistence.

How long it takes to get people into a rhythm of group work, overcoming the personality barriers! There is a saying by Master Morya that consciousness grows slower than grass.
